Giardinetto (in the village)
This restaurant and pizzeria has a lovely shady garden and serves good local dishes at a very reasonable price. It has a fized price pranzo di lavoro at lunch time. It is very popular with the locals. Don’t bother with the mixed salad.
Pizzeria Shalomi (in the village)
Right next to the bar is a good pizzeria that does take away and has an outside seating area at the back. The owners are lovely and speak very good English. Martin’s favourite: Montagna
La Cicala e la Formica (Castelvecchio di Compito 1.5km)
Translates as “The cicada and the ant”. Looks a bit shabby from the outside, but the food is pretty good and very reasonably priced. Some pasta dishes are a bit disappointing. Half a litre of house white for €3.50! It has a lovely local family restaurant feel and we go quite often without booking. Handily open on a Monday.
