Tre Tigli (Sant’Andrea di Compito 4.3km)
Nice local restaurant with friendly and attentive owners. They make the prosciuto and salami for the antipasti themselves in Ruota. Menu changes according to what’s available. They’ll just tell you what you can choose from.
La Cantina di Alfredo (Colognora di Compito 8.5km)
Large popular restaurant with really good food. Locals dress up to go here.
Da Benito (Orentano 8.0km)
Extraordinarily large and delicious steaks. When we went there, the waiter told us the menu. One option for starters (traditional Tuscan mixed starters), four options for primi (pasta), one option for secondi (steak – the house speciality). Not a good place for vegetarians. Reservation essential.
Osteria Ribe (Buti 9.0km)
A bit of a foodie place in a bustling town not far from us. The food is really rather good and Buti is fun. Last time we went, the food was not up to scratch. Probably a change of chef.
Trattoria Pacci (Buti 9.0km)
This is our alternative to Osteria Ribe now.
La Cecca (Coselli 12km)
Restaurant with a lovely shaded terrace with vines. Slightly faded old world charm, good food and great service. About €30-40 per head. You need to reserve for dinner.
Cucina dello Scompiglio (Vorno 12km)
Sit outside. Watch the sun set. Views across to the mountains. Interesting (and good) food. Not bad for vegetarians.
InCucina (Montecarlo 18.9km)
We’re happy to go this far for a special lunch. The food is excellent and Montecarlo is a lovely village perched on a hill. This is the new premises of our previous favourite: Trattoria Montecarlo. It’s bigger and brighter inside and has a lovely courtyard for dining outside.
